Fun at Lewis Pass

December 18, 2017 by NZ Filbruns 1 Comment

On our way home from visiting Simon three weeks ago, we stopped for a few minutes just this side of Lewis Pass. The St James Walkway took off from a small parking area here. We only walked a short way from the car park to where a good view was promised. What a view! As you can see, the day was clear and sunny, and it was absolutely gorgeous there. Just for fun, we took several pictures.

The three of us happened to have on our matching dresses that day.

Mr. Sweetie is goofy about pictures. He didn’t want his picture to be taken with the other children, but on the way back to the car park he wanted it taken on top of this rock!

Funny Boys!

March 15, 2017 by NZ Filbruns Leave a Comment

The day we took family pictures, we also got individual pictures of the children. It was hard to get a good one of some of them. We finally managed it, though; you can see the best results on the sidebar to the right. In between, they had fun climbing this monument. There used to be an obelisk on the top, but it toppled in the November 14 earthquake. The boys took turns being a statue on top!

Family Picture Outtakes

March 6, 2017 by NZ Filbruns Leave a Comment

After church yesterday, we asked a friend to help us get a family picture. What a mission! She said she enjoyed it; I hope she did! It turned out to be quite the adventure, trying to get nine people to all look at the camera at once, and look pleasant! We had a lot of trouble with lighting, since the sun was so bright. We did discover, last night long after we reached home, that there were little fingerprints on the lens, so that was part of the problem. Oops. Here are some of the failed attempts, with the final, best one, at the end (there were only 20 of them to sort through!). Thank you for your help, Kathryn!

New Clothes!

December 20, 2014 by NZ Filbruns Leave a Comment

When Mom came, she brought with her a shirt for each of the boys and a dress for Esther, all of which one of my sisters had sewed. She has talent, I would say! Everyone was thrilled with their new clothing, and it has been so wonderful to have NICE shirts for the boys each Sunday since then. And just to have new clothes, not secondhand or even hand-me-downs—this is probably the first time in their lives for some of these boys. Here are the pictures I took to send my sister, so she could see the fruits of her labors. The children are in order of age.

Passport Photos

April 14, 2014 by NZ Filbruns Leave a Comment

We had to get passport photos taken recently, because the older six children all needed their passports renewed and we need to apply for permanent residency within the next week or two. Taking those photos is quite a challenge! Here are the best we came up with; they will work for the residency application, but we had to get professional ones for the passports.DSCF2215

This isn't a passport photo--just a cutie!

He doesn't need a new passport, nor does he need to be included in the residency application, but he wanted his picture taken when everyone else got theirs taken.

Family Photos

Probably the last time we get a picture of the children in order of age and height, at the same time. It’s challenging, to say the least, to get a decent family photo.  We did accomplish it, though, a week ago–at least fairly decent!  We got individual pictures done a couple of weeks ago, too–see them in the side bar.
